Windows Azure Virtual Network Stuck ‘Connecting’

Windows Azure Virtual Network Stuck ‘Connecting’

Microsoft will change the internal IP address time to time. This change is reflected in the peer-ID that it advertises to the on-premises VPN device. Some VPN devices, either by design or by configuration, will require this value to remain unchanged. This will break a tunnel that had previously been working.

Therfore if you experence this issue please change the peer-ID

Microsoft Prerequisites are listed below and here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windowsazure/jj156210

Outgoing tunnel:

  • Public IP address
  • Subnet mask
  • Default gateway
  • Default route for default gateway
  • DNS servers for name resolution
  • Set TCP MSS to 1350.
