{"id":422,"date":"2009-07-21T18:09:25","date_gmt":"2009-07-21T17:09:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tsls.co.uk\/?p=422"},"modified":"2026-03-11T10:57:54","modified_gmt":"2026-03-11T10:57:54","slug":"moss-moving-database-server","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tsls.co.uk\/index.php\/2009\/07\/21\/moss-moving-database-server\/","title":{"rendered":"MOSS Moving Database Server"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There would appear to be many different types of methods to move database servers for the MOSS Databases. the steps below have worked well for me:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Build new SQL Server (4xCPU and 4GB RAM) or use exsisting<\/li>\n<li>Enable new SQL Server for TCP\/IP and listen to all ports\n<ul>\n<li>Open SQL Server Configuration Manager<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tsls.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/SQLListen.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-490 colorbox-422\" title=\"SQLListen\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tsls.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/SQLListen-300x215.png\" alt=\"SQLListen\" width=\"300\" height=\"215\" \/><\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Create security login accounts as on old server on new server (Farm and web app accounts)\n<ul>\n<li>Either make a note of each user and permissions under Security-Logins<\/li>\n<li>Or Script each Security-Logins relating to SharePoint<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tsls.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/SQLScriptLogon.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-491 colorbox-422\" title=\"SQLScriptLogon\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tsls.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/SQLScriptLogon-300x141.jpg\" alt=\"SQLScriptLogon\" width=\"300\" height=\"141\" \/><\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Set all MOSS Databases to read-only on existing server.\n<ul>\n<li>SharePoint_Config.. (should have one)<\/li>\n<li>Content.. (should have one or more)<\/li>\n<li>AdminContent..(should have one or more)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Backup all MOSS Databases on existing server.\n<ul>\n<li>SharePoint_Config.. (should have one)<\/li>\n<li>Content.. (should have one or more)<\/li>\n<li>AdminContent..(should have one or more)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Restore all MOSS Databases to new server\n<ul>\n<li>SharePoint_Config.. (should have one)<\/li>\n<li>Content..
