Service Pack 2 for MOSS 2007 and WSS v3.0

It has been officially announced that the up and coming Service Pack 2 for MOSS and WSS v3.0 is expected to be released between Februrary 2009 and April 2009

SharePoint MOSS 2007 Service Pack and Hotfix levels

Below are the hotfixes and service pack (SP) levels for MOSS 2007 and WSS v3.0:

NOTE: Don’t forget MOSS installations will also require the WSS patches applying as well. the patch order should be WSS then SharePoint update.

The latest Service Pack must be applied before applying any other updates (Post the Service Pack)

Cumulative updates includes all previous updates apart from the Service Pack

When installing SharePoint Updates your login account must:

  • Be an administrator account on all MOSS Servers.
  • Have at least the Database Creator role and the Security Administrator role.
  • Have access to all the SharePoint Server databases.

If you are restoring\Installing\adding an existing content DB and you receive an error regarding versions, make sure you are running the same patch level as the existing site or higher. If you are not sure deploy the latest update.

Note: for some hotfixes you will need to run the SharePoint Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard or “psconfig –cmd upgrade –inplace b2b -wait” if wait fails then try “psconfig –cmd upgrade –inplace b2b -force’”in command line
