More SharePoint 2010 features

Having a play with SharePoint 2010 and picking through the mind field of video below are some highlights of the features:

Windows SharePoint Service (WSS) in 2010 this is now called SharePoint Server 2010 Fundation

Microsoft have announced the new name for WSS, now called SharePoint Server 2010 Foundation (Beta available in November)
Includes the following:

Will remain Free (Same as WSS)
Ribbon Menu (as you see in Office 2007)
Web Edit – quick customisations to pages adding SharePoint Lists, content, web parts
Cross Browser Support  – FireFox, Safari, IE 6,7,8 and Mobile access

SharePoint 2010 where has the SSP gone.

SharePoint 2010 where has the SSP gone.
2010 has now removed the SSP feature as it was found difficult to use and DB intensive (too many DB’s)
It has now been replaced with Service Applications, Service Application can be related to 1 or more web application and each Service Application has it’s own DB.
